It's happening, we knew it was coming, and now in the UK we're in a new lockdown (Although it's not as if I was going out anyway, I'll be honest). Back in the spring when the UK was in a similar state, I began to find bits and bobs that I could change in my bedroom, mostly based around crafting - Whether it was painting a jewellery box, or giving my light shades a new lease of life with some handmade pom poms. It was a fun way to make my space seem somewhat new, but this time round I'm wasn't going small, I was going B I G with my room refresh. My bedroom had been the same way for three or four years, with white, plain walls which overtime had faded and turned grey. It looked quite dirty, and I think it stemmed from my short-lived phase of lighting wooden wick candles, as well as general dirt and dust. Fun Fact: Apparently this is something called 'Ghosting.'
Basically, a room refresh was well overdue, and with my mum also in the mood to get the home ready for Christmas, we decided to pick up some paint and supplies. Now I have done decorating projects in the past, my brother's room being the one I'm most proud of. Something like that took me around two weeks, although since I knew my bedroom wasn't going to be as big of a transformation, I was hoping for 3 days maximum. *Laughs in the face past hopeful Meg*
The inspiration for this space began with Wes Anderson, using bold, contrasting colours, as well as utilising some of the quirky interior pieces that I already had. Of course I made a Pinterest board, I'm not an amateur. I'll leave that linked HERE if you're at all interested. And as for the main wall colours, the same colour had been sticking out to me for months prior, that being this orange-toned coral, which felt much warmer and cosy compared to what I already had (Also there's a dreamy Korean cake company called Yammy Cakes on Instagram, and the colours they use were also a huge inspiration, I can't deny it).
On the first day, I spent the whole time cleaning out my bedroom and generally prepping everything ready to paint. Don't overlook this step, or underestimate how long that can take. After that, it was nearly a week before the painting had finally been completed, and I could then restore my bedroom to how it was. The relief of having my own stuff back was a great feeling, as I'll admit, there were times when I certainly felt like this project was never going to end. But the end did arrive, and present Meg can say that it was very much worth it.

That's why I wanted to share my very proud moment with you, and if you're here from the YouTube video I posted (I know, I'm trying it again for the 857362648274 time) then I thought I would try to reference where anything seen in that video was bought from. Overall I'm super happy with this makeover, and even though it may seem like a small achievement to some, I think in these times the small achievements are the most important to focus on.
By adding such a bold colour to the walls, I certainly feel that it brightens up my bedroom, and when the sun is setting it creates the most gorgeous glow on the walls - Filling it with golden light that feels very zen. I know that my taste and style won't be everyone's favourite, but it makes me happy whenever I spend time in here, and as someone who loves her own company probably too much, that's definitely an important factor for me. It's your room, make it your own.
