When you find your perfect colour, you'll be forever drawn to it. Recently I've been researching for my dissertation on blondes in film, and it's become apparent that blondes look good when wearing white and pink. I guess it stereotypes the feminine, ethereal nature of the blonde, but for me I just think it looks good in my wardrobe. A few years ago I would never have thought of including pink in my style choices, but I must admit I've been persuaded in the past year of my life, and now I've got a few staple pieces of pink that are my go-to. Some of them I've also featured on this blog before, like my classic H&M sweatshirt HERE, or a simple and subtle pastel moment HERE.
And now I can announce that I have my pièce de résistance of pink, that being in the form of this check blazer. It's as if all of my favourite things formed one article of clothing - Tailoring, strong print and pink of course. With something like this, it's important to know that you can style this easily with the right basics in mind. Here I've gone for a classic combination of denim and white, which only shows this blazer in all it's glory. Of course I also included a small print clash on the shirt itself, but don't be afraid to go bolder either - More recently I clashed this check with a leopard print t-shirt, and it worked wonders.
Of course with any blazer, naturally your instinct is to wear it formally or dressed up. But stick this with a pair of jeans, a plain white tee and some trainers, and you've got yourself a winning combination as well. The more I wear this, the more I'm finding new pairings and styles to try, which is when I know that something like this is going to stick around in my wardrobe for a long time.
I believe I've said it before on this blog, but I'm about to say it again, I need more suits in my life. It only takes a blazer like this to convince me, and I must admit I'm pretty disappointed in myself that I didn't get the matching trousers - I mean, imagine. I think this year is going to be the year of the pant suit for me, and investing in some key pieces like this that I know are going to stand the test of time. Power-dressing is on the horizon for me, and if it makes me feel this good wearing it, I suggest the same to you too.
